Technicians from MathWorks, a U.S.-based corporation specializing in mathematical computing software, visited IMSE to deliver theoretical and practical workshops on MATLAB. The material was divided into two sections: *ADC Workshop with Simulink* and *SerDes Workshop*, specifically tailored for researchers, students, and professionals interested in advanced system modeling and design.
The session began with a brief introduction by the MathWorks team, who presented the company's main activities and projects. This was followed by the technical content, where they explored modeling and simulation tools for analog-to-digital converters (ADCs) and other tools related to high-speed data transmission and reception systems (SerDes).
After a short break, the session resumed with a practical focus, showcasing various examples and case studies to illustrate the combined use of MATLAB with other CAD tools for the design and verification of electronic systems, such as Cadence IC Design, hardware description languages (HDL, Verilog, etc.), as well as methodologies for synthesizing circuits and systems from an algorithmic level to physical implementation.
The practical component was strongly encouraged during the workshop, allowing participants to implement real-time projects and solve typical challenges in our field. The visit highlighted the collaboration between MathWorks and research and knowledge generation institutes such as IMSE, strengthening the link between the knowledge generation sector and the technology industry.
