Last Friday, September 27, the European Researchers' Night took place, an annual meeting with Science organized by the European Commission that seeks to bring research closer to citizens in a practical and fun way. To this end, the participating centers organized various activities, such as workshops, talks and experiments in order to publicize their work, the benefits they bring to society and their impact on daily life. This thirteenth edition, held simultaneously in almost 400 European cities, was once again dedicated to the Horizon Europe Missions that will contribute to the objectives of the European Green Deal, the European Plan to Fight Cancer and the Sustainable Development Goals.
On this occasion, the Instituto de Microelectrónica de Sevilla participated with a talk led by researcher Eros Camacho entitled "Encrypting your secrets with post-quantum cryptography: are we safe?". The activity, which was held at the Museo Casa de la Ciencia, specifically in the María de Maeztu space, attracted the attention of young and old people interested in learning how post-quantum cryptography can act as a shield against the main threats facing current information security systems.
The European Researchers' Night continues to establish itself as a bridge between science and society, promoting interest in knowledge and highlighting the importance of scientific research in the development of key technologies to meet the challenges of the future. Undoubtedly, events such as this reinforce collective awareness of the fundamental role of science in building a safer and more sustainable world.
