Rafael Serrano-Gotarredonda, who completed his PhD at IMSE (2007), will be the new head of a team designing integrated circuits for medical imaging that is to be created by the multinational ams-Osram in Valencia as a global solutions centre for the company.
Serrano-Gotarredonda will have a team of more than 20 engineers who will be responsible for designing sensors for computed tomography (CT) machines, such as CAT scans, as well as for X-rays. The aim of the project is to provide sharper images while reducing and minimising radiation doses to improve patient care.
