The visit consisted of a first round of presentations of the different entities and a subsequent tour of the centre's laboratories.
After recently announcing the opening of its first headquarters in Spain, specifically in Malaga, members of the Centro Interuniversitario de Microelectrónica (IMEC) have visited the IMSE facilities as part of their contact with the local ecosystem. Accompanied by representatives of other organisations such as the Instituto Ricardo Valle de Innovación (IRV), the Chair of the Universidad de Granada and the USEChip Chair, they have been able to learn first-hand about the work carried out daily at the Institute.
To this end, they attended a first introductory talk where the director of IMSE, Teresa Serrano, presented the main characteristics of the centre, as well as the areas of research on which it works. Later, Antonio Acosta introduced the attendees to the USEChip Chair, a strategic project of the Universidad de Sevilla for which he is responsible. The round of presentations culminated with the intervention of Jo De Boec, CSO and EVP of IMEC, who presented the Malaga project, as well as the tools planned to promote collaboration with the local ecosystem.
Finally, the attendees toured the laboratories, where they were able to closely observe various ongoing experiments, as well as the specific instruments and facilities to carry them out, such as the anechoic chamber, microscopes, lasers, among others.
This visit has served as a first step towards strengthening ties and exploring new opportunities for collaboration in the field of microelectronics, consolidating IMEC's ??commitment to technological development in Spain.
