Through this sponsorship, the IMSE has collaborated in the approach of students to a scientific field of rigorous news such as nucleotic energy.
On May 3 and 4, it took place at the Facultad de Física, the first National Academic Debate Tournament at the Universidad de Sevilla, sponsored by the Instituto de Microelectrónica de Sevilla, the Sociedad Nuclear Española, Women in Nuclear, Jóvenes Nucleares, Centro Nacional de Aceleradores and the European Documentation Center. The event, which was organized by the University's debate classroom, welcomed teams from the entire national scene, which discussed the following question throughout the day: should the European Union actively boost the production of nuclear energy within its borders?
To evaluate the confrontations, the tournament had experts specialized in the topic of the question and judges experienced in the academic debate format. This allowed us to offer an objective assessment of the different answers and theories presented..
Although the level was considerably high and any group would have been deserving of the first place, it was the Club de Debate Hispalense 3, on behalf of the Universidad de Sevilla, who was proclaimed champion and won a prize of 1.000 euros.
In addition to the team competition, the three debaters who achieved the highest marks in the qualifying rounds competed for the trophy for the best speaker, which was finally won by Lunna Arenas, from the Asociación de Debate Universitario de Málaga (Aduma). The organization also decorated the best debaters in the various roles, who made up the ideal team of the tournament.
Through this sponsorship, the IMSE has collaborated in the approach of students to a scientific field of rigorous news such as nucleotic energy. And this type of activities are especially necessary among the youngest, because it allows them to understand and analyze the world that surrounds them critically and systematically.
