On July 17 and 18, we had the pleasure of welcoming Professor Ileana Buhan to our facilities. She comes from Radboud University in Nijmegen and is a specialist in digital security. Ileana's research focuses on the design and development of secure digital systems
Over the course of these two days, researchers at IMSE working in this area—under the supervision of Piedad Brox and Macarena Martínez—have had the opportunity to delve deeper into the mathematical foundations of Test Vector Leakage Assessment (TVLA) through the analysis of various implementations of cryptographic algorithms, as well as into methodologies for conducting attacks based on Differential Power Analysis (DPA). The theoretical training was complemented by a practical component, during which participants had the chance to work on specially designed exercises that were both illustrative and applicable to different cryptographic systems.
In addition, as an expert in the field, Ileana had the opportunity to gain first-hand insight into the ongoing research activities carried out by the participants. She provided expert guidance, improvement proposals, and recommendations aimed at strengthening both the rigor and the focus of the work currently underway.
Her visit represented an excellent opportunity for scientific and technical exchange, enriching both the team's knowledge and the ongoing lines of work in the field of hardware security.
At IMSE, we are deeply grateful for Professor Ileana Buhan's dedication and generosity, and we look forward to future collaborations that will continue to promote research excellence in this highly strategic field.
